For Mrs Satya Jayachandran, our founder, farming is a way of life. It is the tangible manifestation of her philosophy and her deep reverence for Thirukurral.The idea for 1000 Farms was conceived during a simple conversation between her and her mentor Shree Ethirajulu.He asked why she wanted to become a farmer.“To know life” Mrs Jayachandran replied.“With farming, you will not only know life but also death.”Thus, with her mentor’s blessings, she started learning the many indigenous techniques of growing food. It is a critical part of sustainable farming. People have been tilling the same land for centuries and our ancestors did develop techniques that would give a higher yield without the interference from chemical fertilizers.1000 Farms is all about keeping such sustainable traditions alive and making organic agriculture products available to everyone. Half a decade of growth and the brand’s growing recognition testify her endeavours.
